Don’t extend copyright.
February 29, 2008 – 12:23 pmSign the petition to stop those scum bags extending copyright for anotherĀ million years. (Well 45 actually… )
From Becky Hogge of ORG (Open Rights Group)
“Today, we’re launching a new campaign against copyright term
extension, in association with the EFF. You can read about it on the
ORG blog:
And visit the new website, which is called Sound Copyright
http://www.soundcopyright.eu/
If you read Commissioner McCreevy’s proposal last week to nearly
double copyright terms for sound recordings in the EU, one might have
thought that it was all a done deal. But McCreevy still has to
persuade his fellow Commissioners and the European Parliament before
sound recordings are locked away in Europe for another 45 years.
To help the EU’s decisionmakers understand how bad an idea for
innovation and the future copyright term extension is, we need as many
people as possible to hear about the sound copyright campaign, and
sign the petition:
http://www.soundcopyright.eu
So please, blog, twitter, update your Facebook status, talk to your
next door neighbour, email your favourite digital discussion forum -
and get word about soundcopyright.eu spread as far and wide as
possible.
We’ll use your support to lobby individual Commissioners, and to
ensure that this misguided policy is rejected.
Together, we will stop copyright term extension.
With thanks in advance
Becky”
